Townsend Zoning Board of Appeals LEGAL NOTICE
In accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 40A and the Townsend Zoning Bylaw, the Townsend Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 6:35 p.m. in Townsend Town Hall, 272 Main Street, Townsend, Massachusetts, on the application of C & J Realty Trust for a Special Permit under Zoning Bylaw §§145-65 & 145-27C(3).
The mixed-use building at 241-247 Main Street (Assessor’s Map 51, Block 94, Lot 0) was previously approved and built with four 2-bedroom apartments and two 1-bedroom apartments. The applicants propose to convert a basement commercial unit to a one-bedroom apartment while removing one bedroom from an existing 2-bedroom apartment (converting it to 1-bedroom). This keeps the total at 10 bedrooms to comply with the approved septic permit limit.
The hearing will be conducted in person, with a virtual Zoom component provided. Full remote access details will be posted with the meeting agenda at least 48 hours in advance on the Town’s website (www.townsendma.gov) under the Upcoming Events Calendar.
Interested parties may submit written comments prior to the hearing or speak at the hearing in person or through an agent/attorney. The application is available for review at the Town Clerk’s or ZBA offices or by email request to ZBA@townsendma.gov.
