Pursuant to the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the Townsend Wetlands Bylaw, the Townsend Conservation Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 9th, 2022 at approximately 7:30 pm. The hearing will be held virtually via Zoom meeting and in person at Town Hall, on a Request to Amend an Order of Conditions filed with the Conservation Commission by Squannacook Greenways. The project is located at 80 Main Street (Assessor’s Map 34, Parcel 4).
     The applicant wishes to make three improvements: install an infiltration trench to control erosion and prevent further runoff from the parking lot; reinforce an unstable portion of the rail trail with coarse stone; and, improve the existing canoe launch with crushed stone or rip rap.

     The proposed project is for the removal of trees along the side of the club pond. The tree removal will be immediately adjacent to both the pond and surrounding wetlands. The public is invited to attend.

     The applicant wishes to replace a failing sewage system and associated grading within a 100-foot buffer of a bordering vegetated wetland and intermittent streams.

The proposed project would remove several dead hazardous trees along power lines by single length felling on top of a wetland. This project would also include the removal of stem wood.
