Groton Town Forest Trail Race

Sunday, Oct. 19, 163 West Main St. Sponsored by Squannacook River Runners. Part of WMAC's Grand Tree Trail Race Series. Race start 12:30 p.m. (9.5mi), 12:40 p.m. (3.4 mi). Both courses, 9.5 & 3.4 miles, tour Groton Town Forest, have no road crossings. Courses are a combination of narrow dirt roads, winding single lane trails, with many roots, rocks, leaves, uphills/downhills. Guided Hike From Williams Barn

Sunday, Oct. 12, 1 PM join members of Groton Trails Committee and Appalachian Mountain Club on guided hike from historic Williams Barn through adjacent conservation areas. This hike has a bit of everything, from a low-lying beaver pond, to eskers, and pretty New England upland woods. Hike takes about two hours and is suitable for those experienced in hiking woods and hills. Wear appropriate hiking shoes. Dogs must be kept under owner's control, and leashed upon request.
