SPORTS: McAuliffe "One of the Best" Cross Country runners at GDRHS.
On November 2, Groton-Dunstable sophomore Emily McAuliffe finished eighth in the Central-Mass Cross-country race and qualified for the 2013 MIAA All State Division 1 Cross Country meet run at the Gardner Municipal Golf Course this past Saturday. McAuliffe finished 98th out of 179 runners with a time of 19:10.48, a 6:38.8 pace. Lowell High School's Kaley Richards was the winner, running the 2.9 mile course in 16:53.79, (5:49.6 pace).
"Emily is a very talented runner, one if the best in the past few years," said varsity cross-country coach Colleen Naboicheck. "She placed 4th at the MidWach B League Meet. McAuliffe is a strong hill runner and ran very well on the Gardner Course in both the Districts and the States. She has become a confident runner this year because of her strong work ethic, possesses leadership qualities and continues to want to get better. I believe she will become a better runner in the future and there is only good to come," concluded Naboicheck. Congratulations, Emily!
