SPORTS: Groton Gators Overwhelm Concord/Boxborough

Groton Gators dominated in a recent swim meet at the Groton Pool and Golf Center defeating Boxborough Swymfit Swordfish 291- 134 and Concord Otters, 330-82. The two meets were scored independently, Groton against Concord and Groton against Boxborough.

Many personal best times for that event recorded up until today's meet were smashed. "In many cases, the discrepancies are staggering," gushed head coach Jen Dimino!  "Many kids dropped 2, 3, 4....7 seconds!!!"

Hopefully, as space allows, I have included all the multiple winners.

Allison Lilly, Sarah Figueroa, Jennifer Kenney and Hannah Boyce finished first in the 13-14 year old 200 yard freestyle relay.

Caroline Woodbury, 13-14 year old, 100 IM, 100 butterfly.

Michele Chu, 8 and under; 25 yd. free style and 25 yd. butterfly.

Tad Schiebe, 11-12 year old, 50 yd. free style, 50 yd. backstroke.

Olivia Dunsmoor; 13-14 year old, 50 yd. backstroke.

Eleven year and over 200 yd. relay medley: 1st Lauren Kenney, MacKenzie Sweeney, Caroline Woodbury, Olivia Dunsmoor.

Boys 11-12 200 Yard Freestyle Relay: 1st  Danny Cumnock-Francois, Gavin Lilly, Matthew Liliedahl, Tad Schiebe.

"The Gators made me extremely proud today... they swam 'hungry', and the results speak for themselves. At this point in the season, it was thrilling to have so many of our athletes achieve such impressive drops in times," Dimino added.
