BOYS BASKETBALL

Tyngsborough 48, GD 31                                                                                                    

In the opener for both teams, Austin Coene and Drew Hurynowicz scored 17 points and 15 respectively to fuel the Tigers 48-31 win over visiting Groton-Dunstable. Corey Romich led the Crusaders with11 points. It was a game at the half with Tyngsborough up 30-23 but GD managed only nine points the rest of the way. Bobby Flanagan and Matt Tornaritis added five points each.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Tyngsborough 48, Groton-Dunstable 40

Despite 15 points and six assists from Lindsay Werner, visiting Groton-Dunstable fell to Tyngsborough, 48-40 in the season opener for both teams. Olivia Pierce tallied 14 points and made several big free throws down the stretch to pace Tyngsborough. The teams were knotted at 21-21 at the half.

SWIM TEAM

Wachusett 94, Tyngsborough/Groton-Dunstable 89

Patrick Conway (50 freestyle, 100 backstroke) and Zack Goodwin (200 IM, 100 butterfly) both won two events to lead the Mountaineers to a win at Greater Lowell Vocational in both schools' opener.
