SPORTS: GD Football Overwhelms Gardner

Shane Dawson's 65-yard punt return and a Corey Romich TD run from the 13 yard line gave visiting Crusaders (1-0) a 14 -0 lead after the first quarter on the way to an impressive 36-13 victory over Gardner. Senior Eric Yanchenko made both PATs.

Wildcats' Dominic Martins scored on a 23-yard pass from Matt Seward (Jake Shetrawski kick) in the second stanza to cut the lead in half.

GD answered. Senior wide receiver Drew Moore pulled in a 25-yard pass from Corey Romich (PAT failed) to give GD a 23-7 lead at the half.

In the third stanza, fullback Joe Orlando bulled his way in from the 27-yard line (kick failed) and Shane Dawson (Yanchenko kick) tallied the Crusaders last TD on a 23 yard to push the advantage to 36-7. Gardner's Carlos Maldonero scored on a three-yard run in the fourth quarter.
