Hawks Get Revenge

In Friday night football action, Hudson seniors Dan Bothwell and Dan Mendes combined for 261 rushing yards pacing the No. 7 Hawks (2-0) to a 41-7 triumph over the Crusaders (1-1).

As we noted in this column last week, the visiting Hawks brought back most of the players from last year's team that suffered a shutout loss to GD last season. They were ready!

Bothwell totaled 146 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns while Mendes added 115 yards on seven carries. Mendes also completed a 52-yard TD pass to Bobby Brisbois in the second quarter, a quarter that saw the Hawks score 21 points.

In the second stanza, junior wide receiver Drew Moore tallied the Crusaders only TD in the second stanza on a 22 yard-run. The talented athlete kicked the extra point to get GD on the board.

The Crusaders schedule does not get easier when they travel to Marlborough on Friday, 9/27. The Panthers (2-0, 1-0 Mid-Wach B) have outscored their first two opponents by a combined 68-37.
