GD Boys B-Ball Triumph

Groton-Dunstable sophomore Corey Romich scored a game high 19 points and senior Scott Csaplar added 10 points to lead the Crusaders past host Marlborough (0-4), 53-48 in Midland B league action.

Two firsts for local teams last weekend when the Crusaders (1-4) broke into the win column with their win against Marlborough and UMass Lowell defeating University of Maryland-Baltimore County 59-54 for their first victory over a Division 1 opponent in the program's history.

GD trailed by two at the half (28-26) but Romich (10 rebs, 4 assists) impressed, draining five 3-pointers to keep it close.

Gavin Keough (7pts.), Drew Moore (6 pts.) and Bobby Flanagan (5 pts.) had solid contributions both on offense and defense.

Junior Joe Cappadona and Jose De la Cruz led the Panthers with 12 and 10 points respectively.

"I was happy for the boys. They have been working hard and deserved the win," stated Coach Greg Gillette.
