Dover-Sherborn Repeats

On June 4, No.6 seed Groton-Dunstable defeated No.2 seed Arlington Catholic, 11-5, in a Division 3 Central/East semi-final boys' lacrosse game. The win was number 100 for varsity coach Rick Arena who has coached the Crusaders since the inception of boys' lacrosse at Groton-Dunstable 11 seasons ago. "Winning 101 would be even sweeter," said Arena.

But it wasn't to be, as two time defending State Champion and No. 1 seed Dover-Sherborn (17-3) came out flying, scoring four unanswered goals in the first 12 minutes and never looked back. They eventually took a 15-4 home victory in the Central/East Division 3 boys' lacrosse final.

For the past 10 years, Dover-Sherborn has represented the finest in HS lacrosse.

With Raiders up 1-0 on Grant Gregory's first of 4 goals, G-D goalie PJ Kendall made two huge saves but D-S was relentless, cycling the ball with crisp passes, looking for cutters and shooting on goal. Kendall made 18 saves, some of them miraculous, somehow getting his goalie stick, body, leg, whatever in front of a shot. "Give PJ (Kendall) credit.  He made some outstanding saves," said Arena.

Down 7-0, senior Austin Hourani got the Crusaders (12-9) on the board at 7:27 of the second quarter beating D-S goalkeeper Jack Fontaine but the Raiders answered with three more goals and led 10-1 at the half.

Hourani had three goals and an assist, Zach Cotoni scored Crusaders' other goal while senior Quintin Forbes assisted on two scores.
