Crusader Softball Will Be Competitive

Coach Derek Asadoorian, 12th season. Record last year: 9-11.

Key losses: Catcher, Kate Stowell,  CF, Meg McLean, LF, Ali Kessler, 1B, Kiersten Bieren

Projected batting order:

# 1-C, Celina Antonellis (11). Returning All-Star (2B), athletic, versatile, first year catching, communicates well, highest batting average on team last year.

# 2-CF, Jen Johnson (12). Speed and range, has worked hard, contact hitter, consistent, excellent leader.

# 3 RF, Erin Olson (11). Returning All-Star (RF), exceptional hitter, athletic player, dependable fielder.

# 4-P, Alyssa Ash (11), good bat, clean-up hitter, good pop in her pitching, has developed new pitches, confident, minimize walks and she will dominate.

# 5-SS, Rose O'Malley (9), New to Groton-Dunstable, knowledgeable player, good size, strong arm, has impressed.

# 6-1B, Laura Bieren (9). Size, good bat, excellent softball IQ.

# 8/9-2B, SS, Lindsay Werner (10). Moving from SS to 2B. very athletic, , improved hitter, high energy.

 

Competing at 3B, (11) Ariana Cho and (12), Olivia Lexo. Cho started at third last year, smart base runner, hard worker, improved bat, selective hitter

Lexo has a good work ethic, strong throwing arm, fearless base runner.

 Competing. OF-Emily Figueroa (9), Annika Liljegren (11) and Maddy Bugbee (11)

Figuero has impressed, good arm, possible DH, Liljegren, big improvement at the plate, solid throwing arm and range, softball mechanics have improved along with confidence. Bugbee, contact hitter, excellent work ethic, potential pitcher.

Competing: 

2B-Lindsay Maloomian (10), DH last year, contact hitter, improved fielder with good speed.

Promising newcomers :

Lizzie Faubel (9) 3B, P; Katie Ferro (9), OF; Olivia Stea (9),C; Caroline Thompson (9), 1B; all are improving and committed to the future of the softball program

Concerns: 

"We are a young team with a difficult schedule. Staying healthy is so important for our success," stated coach Derek Asadoorian.

Goals: 

Absolutely great, coachable group of girls. "We hope to meet and play to our maximum potential."
