Girls Golf - Groton-Dunstable 46.5, Burncoat 7.5

Erin Smolka shot 52 at par-36 Green Hill to lead GD past Patriots (0-10).

Softball - Crusaders improved to 5-6 with wins over North Middlesex (1-10) and St. Bernard's (2-9) sandwiched around a 5-0 loss to powerhouse, Hudson (11-0, 5-0 Mid-Wach B). Alyssa Ash was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Jen Johnson had three singles and two RBIs. Julia Murray had two singles and scored a run for the Patriots (1-10). GD had 19 hits against the Bernardians.

Junior pitcher Alyssa Ash went the distance allowing 3 hits, 8 strikeouts with four walks. Center-fielder Jen Johnson went 3-for-5 with 4 RBI, and junior Ariana Cho went 3-for-3 with 2 runs scored . Laura Bieren (2-for-3, 2 runs), Lindsey Maloomian (2-for-3, RBI), Anni Liljegren (2-for-3, RBI) and Rose O'Malley (2-for-4, run) led the GD attack. Hudson's Jurnee Ware had 13 strikeouts and Alyssa Ash had 10 strikeouts for host Crusaders but errors and lack of hitting (2 hits) doomed the locals against the Hawks.

Baseball - Hudson 9, GD 6 Groton-Dunstable junior Alex Dhionis hit a 2-run homer in the third inning and scored a pair of runs in a 9-6 loss to Hudson (10-2) on Friday. Dhionis' HR was his fifth of the season and fourth for the week. Senior Brad Zadrozny was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Crusaders. Kevin Powell's 2-run single with 2 outs in bottom of the eighth was the key hit as North Middlesex (4-8) edged Crusaders 14-13. Groton-Dunstable junior Alex Dhionis (3 hits, 2 HR, 2B, 4 RBIs), Adam Kmetz was 5-for-5 with 3 runs scored for GD (5-7).
