Request for Agricultural Management Proposals

The Town of Groton, by and through its Conservation Commission, hereby requests proposals from persons wishing to use, for agricultural purposes, the following conservation parcel: O'Neill Way off Main Street/Route 119 Groton Assessor's Parcel 216-16

Proposals should address the restoration or maintenance of a 2.3± acre parcel for agricultural purposes. The Commission encourages proposals that take into consideration public recreational access; address the removal of invasive, non-native plant species; and preserve a diversity of wildlife habitats.

Interested individuals should submit a written proposal, including bid amount, for the planned use of the parcel. This should be a discussion of the proposed management for a five-year period and must address, as appropriate, the following items: crops or livestock, fencing, equipment to be used, soil amendments, pest management methods (including wildlife such as woodchuck, deer, or birds), cover crops, rotations, and composting.

The proposal should be submitted to the Groton Conservation Commission, 173 Main St., Groton, MA 01450 by 4P, Tuesday, April 22, 2014. All proposals should explain the individual's experience, agricultural background, and general qualifications. Additional information is available from Takashi Tada, Conservation Administrator, at 978-448-1106 or at the Commission office in Town Hall.
