NOTICES: Sale of Prescott & Tarbell Schools on Fall TM Warrant

Warrant articles to sell both Prescott School on Main Street and Tarbell School in West Groton to the sole bidders for each building will be presented for voters consideration at Fall Town Meeting.

Greg Yenchenko of Groton is the only bidder for the purchase of Prescott School, which he plans to use to house at least three businesses.

Part of the discussion with Yenchenko was to use the rear of the school property for badly needed municipal parking.

However, the new Groton-Dunstable School District Superintendent has expressed a desire to stay in the building, which the school uses for administrative offices. The School Department holds a lease of the School which expires in August 2015. There will be a meeting with Yenchenko, the school and Selectmen to determine a way to work together on this.

The lone bidder for Tarbell School is also a Groton resident, Brooks Lyman. According to Town Manager Mark Haddad, Lyman has not specified his planned use for the building.

A two-thirds vote of town meeting is required in order to dispose of the municipal buildings.
