Groton Channel Summer Internships

To help foster original local programming, The Groton Channel will offer two kinds of paid summer internship positions. These will be available to high school aged Groton residents and students of Groton-Dunstable High School, as well as Groton residents currently enrolled in college. Applications are due at Groton Channel Studio in the lower level of the Groton-Dunstable High School by 4 p.m., Friday, May 10.

Project-Based Internship Description: Candidates are to propose a video project that they would like to produce from concept to cablecast. The selected intern(s) will be expected to have a schedule outlining the weekly commitment and time span of the project. Compensation will be based on that commitment at $12 an hour for up to $1,000. If there are two producers, the project will be capped at $1,500, and if there are three or more Producers, the project will be capped at $2,000. Interns will have the guidance and supervision of Groton Channel staff throughout the production process. The project must be completed prior to the beginning of the school year in the fall.

All kinds of projects are welcome. The intern projects will be selected based on the merits of the project, the intern's enthusiasm for the subject, and the intern's ability to achieve high production values. Some basic knowledge of video production is necessary, but additional training will be provided.

Groton Channel Production Assistant Internship Description: Groton Channel will select up to two interns to perform various duties associated with operation of Groton Channel and to assist with the production of Groton Channel News. Duties will include writing, reporting, shooting, and editing, as well as other related tasks. News stories will focus on local events and people. Intern(s) will earn $12 an hour up to $1000 for the summer. Candidates must have some relevant experience in either video production or journalism.
