Applewild Students in National Geographic Bee
Applewild School students in grades four-eight recently participated in this year's National Geographic Bee. "The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography," according to the sponsoring National Geographic Society. History and Geography teacher Todd Goodwin organizes the program at the school in Fitchburg. Several students from Groton were grade level winners: fourth graders Phoebe Hager and Gabriel Quinn; fifth grader Samuel Maggs; and seventh graders Aiden Zinck and John Horsman.
