Honoring World War II Veterans at Fort Devens

Heroes Remembered: A Ceremony Honoring World War II Veterans, will be held Friday, Oct. 23, at 1 pm, in the Hall of Flags, One Quebec St. at Fort Devens. Event, cohosted by State Rep. Jennifer Benson (D-Lunenburg) and State Rep Sheila Harrington (R Groton), will feature a traditional military program, and special guest speaker Gov. Charlie Baker. According to data provided by the Veterans Administration, there are less than 25,000 living World War II veterans in MA. By 2020, it is estimated there will be less than 5,000.

The 90-minute program includes a Color Guard, performance of the National Anthem and other patriotic music and reading of a Proclamation by Gov. Baker honoring MA World War II vets. World War II Veterans and their families from across the Commonwealth invited. Parking available, Hall of Flags is handicap accessible. Veterans and their guests should be seated by 1 p.m.
