FISHING Derby

Westford Sportsmen's Club's fishing derby is free for area children 14 years old or younger., held, rain or shine, Saturday, April 25 at 8-10:30 a.m. at the club's two-acre fishing pond. The club at 80 West St. between St Catherine's Church and Rte. 40. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on day of event at the booth located on edge of the pond.

Participants must bring their own fishing gear, bait and lures. Free drinks and snacks provided for children and adults. Prizes awarded for both boys and girls who catch the largest fish, the first fish caught, the first tagged fish, and the first to catch a fish. Highlight of the morning is the prize drawing for $1500 in fishing gear, backpacks, gift certificates, and other accessories donated or purchased from funds raised.

Derby expenses are funded through sales of raffle tickets (for two cash prizes drawn on day of the derby), and receipt of merchandise and cash donations from area businesses and individuals More information at http://www.westfordsportsmensclub.org
