Encore Performance! Mary Minifie's Talk on Edmund C. Tarbell & the Boston School of Painting, Sun, Nov. 3, 2-3:30 pm. Mary Minifie is a Groton artist and member of Guild of Boston Artists. Edmund C. Tarbell: Works from the Tarbell Charitable Trust Exhibit will be displayed through Nov. 9.

Sports Talk by Boston Globe's Dan Shaughnessy,* Wed, Nov 6, 7-8:30 p.m. Award-winning columnist and author Dan Shaughnessy returns to Groton, where he grew up, to speak about what's hot in sports. Free and open to all 

•Local Authors Open House,* Sun, Nov 17, 2-3:30 p.m. All are invited to stop by GPL to chat with local authors, buy their books (maybe as holiday gifts), and enjoy light refreshments, all on a cozy Sunday afternoon at GPL.

Young Adult Programs:

•Magic the Gathering Club,* Wed, Nov. 6 & 20, 3-5 pm. Bring your friends and enjoy the game, prizes, and refreshments! Grades 6 and up.

•YA Anime Club,* Wed, Nov 6, 7-8:30 p.m. Anime and manga fans gather to view episodes of their favorite anime shows that we download from Crunchyroll. Cosplay welcomed! Grades 6-12.

•Hot Books, Hot Chocolate! Book Group for grades 6-8, Thurs, Nov 7, 7-8 pm. Join us for a lively book discussion of this month's selection, Zombie Baseball Beatdown by Paolo Bacigalupi.

•Minecraft, Wed, Nov 20, 7-8:30 p.m. Minecraft fans get together every month to play on GPL's dedicated server. If you don't have your own Minecraft account, please let us know. Grades 6-12.

•Three LLama Lounges in Nov. for Young Adults: Tues, Nov 12; Thurs, Nov 14; and Wed, Nov 27, all 11:45 a.m.-3 p.m. Drop in with your friends at the library on these half days of school. Play Wii games, board games, do a craft, go online, enjoy some treats. Grades 5-8.

Children's Programs and Book Groups

•Tales and Tunes for Tots with Elaine Kessler,* Fri, Nov 1, 10:30-11:15 a.m.** Miss Elaine is back to inspire creative expression and lots of fun through music and play!

•Creative Kids Drop-in Crafts, Tues. in Children's Room, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

•Chapter Book Read-Aloud with Jennie, Tues, Nov 12 & 26, 4-4:30 p.m. Grades K-2.

•Mother Goose Story Time, Wed., 10:30-11 am & 11:15-11:45 am. Babies & toddlers and their caregivers.

•Story Time for 3, 4 & 5 Year-Olds, Thurs. (except Thanksgiving), 10:30-11 am.

•Read to Roly or Huggs, every Wed., 4-5 p.m.  Roly and Huggs are certified therapy dogs who love children, books, and reading. You may sign your child up for one 15-minute session with Roly or Huggs.  For more info or to sign-up, please call or email.
