Philomena (Leone) Loring

Philomena (Leone) Loring., 92, a resident of Acton and a former longtime resident of Ayer, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Philomena was born in Concord on May 17, 1931 to Maria (Giacobbe) Leone and Henry (Enrico) Leone, both of Italy. She was the sister of Zaccariah, Daniel, Luigi, and Isaiah Leone and half-sister of Frances, John, and Mary Pino, all predeceased her. Philomena was the devoted wife of the late George Loring, Jr., and mother to two beloved sons: Paul, who predeceased her, and Daniel.

Philomena lived a life of service, dedicating thousands of hours to volunteer work, including at Burbank Hospital, where she received her 10,000-hour volunteer pin; Shriners Hospital for Children; and Nashoba Valley Hospital. Philomena was a proud member of Ladies’ Oriental Shrine Fuad Court No. 30, Amaranth, Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, and the former Federated Church of Ayer. She was an avid gardener, a country music aficionado, and a true model of kindness. Philomena will be remembered for her love of family and charity, her beautiful garden, her love of the color pink, and especially her service to others.

Philomena is survived by her son Daniel Loring and his wife Kathryn of Lancaster; her grandchildren Brittany Loring McLoughlin and her husband John McLoughlin of Scituate; Alyssa Loring Tirella and her husband Terence Tirella of Woburn; Amanda (Loring) O'Sullivan and her husband Ryan of New York, NY; Justin Harris and his wife Courtney of Fitchburg; her six great-grandchildren (and one on the way); her nieces and nephews; her grand-nieces and grand-nephews; her sister-in-law Norma Leone; her former daughter-in-law Pamela Lambert-Loring; and many others she loved dearly.

A service of remembrance will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, (Rte. 2A) Ayer,

Philomena's family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation period Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
