October 27-31. Throughout the week, students participated in a friendly competition where they earned points by dressing up in that day’s theme, as well as by bringing in donations for local charities. Shown above in the classroom where the items were collected, students donated new socks and underwear to House of Hope in Lowell, toiletries to North Star Family Services in Leominster, 19 large bags of winter clothes to Catie’s Closet in Dracut, and more than 1,000 lbs. of non-perishables to PACH Outreach in Pepperell and Loaves & Fishes in Devens. Pictured are rider/owner Kristin Hubbard, age 29, and her horse Tango, age 33, as they walked down Whitman Rd. last week following their adventure to Lawrence Academy. Kristin started The Groton Horse in 2017 to share her adventures with her horse Tango as they rode the trails of Groton and surrounding towns, as well as enjoying their visits to Grotonfest each year. Since 2022, she and Tango have been the Headless Horseman in town. It was something she had always wanted to do together, and after she saw how much joy it brought to the people of Groton, she knew she had to continue. On October 30, the day this photo was taken, Kristin and Tango were returning from an outing to Lawrence Academy after being invited to come and share the spirit of Halloween with the students. The following evening, Halloween, they did their last adventure as the Headless Horseman in Groton Center. Due to Tango’s age, Kristin has made the decision to retire him from his Halloween activities, but is lovingly committed to keep adventuring with Tango on Groton trails!
