Sheila died peacefully at her daughter, Susan’s home in Groton on November 6, 2020 after a prolonged illness. She was pre-deceased by her husband of over 50 years, Leon F Griffin.
Sheila was born on December 10, 1929 in Ayer, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Paul McNiff and Ruth Griffin.
Sheila was raised on a farm in Pepperell of which she had fond memories. She was a self-starter and hard worker. She loved and served family well.
She was a friendly neighbor, very generous and a great servant to the elderly. Her doors were always open where coffee, tea and fare was plentiful. She happily offered a listening ear and sage advice.
She leaves her three daughters: Rita Casey and her husband Robert of Ayer, Susan McElroy and her husband Jack, and Kelly Griffin of Groton, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and neph- ews.
Sheila is further survived by three sisters: Rita Hamilton of Pepperell, Carol McNiff of Brooksville, Florida, Mary Lou Shattuck of Townsend, and a brother, Paul McNiff of Ormond Beach, Florida. She was pre-deceased by her sisters: Paula Gillogly, Marilyn McNiff and step-sister, Janie George.
A private graveside service will be held in Westlawn Cemetery, Littleton on Friday, November 13, 2020.
