OBITUARY: Steven F. Mickle
Steven F. Mickle, 63, of Ayer, died on September 2, 2014 as a result of a motorcycle crash in Berwick, Maine. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 21, 1951, son of the late Frederick Mickle and Mary DeMeo Mickle Glavine. He grew up in Lincoln and was a graduate of Arlington Tech. Steve worked in automotive repair for many years at Doherty Garage, Moran Motors, and his own Mickle Automotive. He then worked for the Groton Highway Department.
Steve was active with the Groton, Dunstable, and Ayer Fire Departments and worked at the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy. After his retirement, he worked at the Groton Country Club and the Chelmsford Country Club.
He was a member of the Red Knights International Motorcycle Club, a member of North Middlesex Police Association, Ayer Rod and Gun Club, Nashoba Sportsman's Club, the Chelmsford Elks, and was a Life Member of the NRA [National Rifle Association].
Steve loved hunting, fishing, NASCAR, the New England Patriots, golfing, and traveling on his motorcycle.
His survivors include his wife Debora [Barber] Mickle of Ayer, two daughters, Sarah Power of Ashby and Meghan Mickle of Concord; his son, Matthew Mickle of Woburn including two grandchildren, Kristyanne Power and Reilly Power. He was predeceased by his mother, his stepfather James Glavine, and his sister, Rita Glavine.
Visiting hours will be held at the Groton Center for the Arts (Groton-Dunstable Middle School Performing Arts Center), 344 Main Street, Groton on Saturday September 13, 2014 from 12-4 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m.
