OBITUARY: Alice Vlahos
Alice (Jacobs) Vlahos, 66 of Groton died at her home Saturday, October 18, 2014. She was born in Groton on December 23, 1947, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (McDowell) Jacobs. She grew up in Groton and was a graduate of Groton High School and Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at Northeastern University in Boston. She was a Director at the Nashoba Boards of Health Dental Program in Ayer and worked at Dr. Bouchard's in Winchendon for more than 20 years.
Alice's passion was dance and she was a dance instructor and DJ for 25 years. She was Demo Director for the Toytown Country Dancers, a founder of the Wandering Bears Country Dance Group, and owner of My Dancing Heart Studio located in Brookline, NH. She taught Ballroom, Swing, and Latin but Country was her heart. Alice became a licensed Zumba instructor at 62 years of age and had experience teaching dance to children and adults of all ages.
She is survived by three children: Christian Vlahos and his wife Brandy of Maryland; Nicholas Vlahos of Maryland; and Joseph Vlahos and his fiancée Sarah DiMeco of Groton; and a brother Ray Jacobs of Greenville, NH. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, who were the light and love of her life, Niko, Angeliah, Angelo, Trevor, Xander, Tyler and Travis.
