George W. MacGregor Jr., 72
George W. "Hoot" MacGregor Jr., 72 of Groton, died at Emerson Hospital January 5 2013 after a brief illness.
He was born in Ayer, August 31, 1940, Son of the late George W. and Rachael (Draper) MacGregor. He lived in Groton most of his life and was a graduate of Groton High School class of 1958. He went into the Air Force in 1963.
He was a radio dispatcher part time for a several years before becoming full time. In 1962 he became a full time patrolman on the Groton Police Department for eleven years where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He also was a past member of the Groton Fire Department Engine and Hose Company #1.
He then followed his career to the Town of Westford. Police Department for the greater part of his years in Law Enforcement he worked in the Criminal Bureau as an Inspector, this was a job he truly loved. He later retired from the Westford Police Dept. in 1992.
He also owned his own business for many years, Coordinated Services, and did many types of Sales.
Besides his wife of 49 years this year Joan (Kopec) MacGregor, he leaves a daughter Lauren MacGregor and David Kitteridge of Leominster and a son Timothy E. MacGregor and Wendy MacGregor of Groton. He also leaves two grandsons Timothy E. Jr of Pepperell and Michael E. of Groton. He also leaves one sister Joan (MacGregor) Divoll and nephew Kenneth Divoll, both of Leominster, MA.
