Lieutenant Colonel Kirk E. MacDonald, U.S. Army (Ret.) diedpeacefully surrounded by his family on June 12, 2021. Kirk was born in Quincy on February 19, 1971. June 7, 2021 marked the tenth anniversary of William Woitowicz’s death while serving with the Marine Corps in Afghanistan. He was killed in action June 7, 2011 trying to save the lives of others in his group who were under attack. His grave (pictured above) is in Westford. Billy made the ultimate sacrifice, having just graduated from Groton-Dunstable, making him the first G-D graduate who lost his life while fighting a war.

WWII Veteran Frank Scimemi passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 peacefully at home. He was born on December 13, 1921 to Stefano Scimemi and Philomena (Dirubbo) Scimemi and was raised in Tyngsboro. Robert (Bob) B. Gallipeau, 98 years old, died peacefully in the company of family members, on Palm Sunday at Apple Valley Center in Ayer, MA.
