Selectmen Ratify Town Manager's Appointment of Regina Beausoleil as Land Use Assistant

The Town of Groton received 40 applications to fill the position left vacant by Land Use Assistant Dawn Dunbar, who moved over to fill the position of Executive Assistant to the Town Manager. A Search Committee was formed that included Land Use Director Michelle Collette, Board of Health Dr. Susan Horowitz, Building Inspector Ed Cataldo, Human Resource Manager Suzanne Loverin and CPA's Gineane Haberlin.

Of the 40 applications received, the committee narrowed it down to four candidates for interviews.

The position, formerly called Land Use Assistant has been upgraded to a new title - Interdepartmental Administrative Assistant - and moved from a Grade 5 to a Grade 7. This change reflects the addition of passport responsibilities that have been transferred to the Land Use Department from the Board of Selectmen's office, and prior to that the Town Clerk's office.

Of the four candidates, Collette and the Committee recommended hiring Regina Beausoleil, who left this position some two years ago to take a job in private industry.

Selectmen ratified this appointment made by Town Manager Mark Haddad on a 4 to 0 vote with one abstention, Selectman Anna Eliot.

They also unanimously ratified the appointment of Tracy Heighton to the Sign Committee and Historical Commission, and the appointment of Alison Peterson to the Sustainability Committee.

The Board approved a One-Day Liquor License for the First Parish Church for serving beer and wine on Nov. 2 for a fund raising auction for the Church.
