Memorial Day Remembrance of Those Who Gave Their Lives

Groton’s Memorial Day remembrance brought together townspeople of all ages in a solemn and spirited tribute to those lost in America’s wars. The morning included the quiet dignity of the flag being raised at half-staff, followed by musket volleys from colonial reenactors echoing the town’s long tradition of service. Wreaths were placed with care honoring the many who gave their lives, many known only to loved ones. Students sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” with clear, reverent voices, while veterans stood at attention, hands over hearts. Under bright skies, the parade and ceremony were a living expression of our memory, gratitude, and remembrance of their sacrifices.  Photos by Steve Lieman
