Drug Arrest on Lantern Lane

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 9 at 4:10 a.m., Groton Police received two separate calls reporting loud arguments that were escalating at a residence on Lantern Lane and Boston Rd. Upon arrival Officer Nick Beltz observed significant signs of a fight. There were two males and two females present. He also observed damage to the living room of the home. There was a third male in the home who was transported to Nashoba Hospital with a severe injury. The other two males, although injured, declined medical treatment.

According to Police Chief Donald Palma, Joseph Medeiros, 26, tenant at the home, was taken into custody and charged with disturbing the peace, possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana. Groton Police obtained a search warrant, and at 2:30 p.m. the same day, seized a large quantity of evidence including a package of high grade marijuana in excess of 20 pounds; a large quantity of pills, a large quantity of vials believed to contain steroids, syringes, a large quantity of cash, drug distribution paraphernalia, and a fire arms magazine and live ammunition.

The Chief said that the complaint was then modified to include unlawful possession of ammunition, and possession of Class B, D and E controlled substances. Medeiros was arraigned and is out on bail.
