Chief Palma Credits Rookie K9 Team With Saving Life

Groton Police Chief Donald Palma credited the department's first K9 tracking dog, a friendly black lab named Officer Lola with her first save.

Officer Lola and her handler Groton Officer Nick Beltz were responding to a call from the Tyngsborough Police Department initially to look for an individual involved in a domestic disturbance, According to Chief Palma, "During the process of searching, Lola hit on some bloody rags on the ground. These led her back to the home, and she kept going back to this location.

"Police investigated and found that a woman had been injured. The woman was transported to the hospital and she is going to be ok. If Lola had not found her, she could have bled to death. Lola saved her life."
