A Thank You From Groton Lakes Association
Dear Editor:
On behalf of the members of the Groton Lakes Association, I must thank Russ Harris and the Groton Herald for the wonderful story in last week's edition of the Herald about our efforts to restore and preserve Lost Lake and Knops Pond for the use and enjoyment by all residents of Groton.
I must also thank the Board of Selectmen, Town Manager, Conservation Commission, Board of Health, Planning Board and Finance Committee for their support. More specifically the members of the Groton Lakes Association are eternally grateful to Mark Haddad, Josh Degen, Marshal Giguere, Craig Auman and Susan Horowitz for their sage advice, help and guidance in helping us turn our dream of a healthy lake into a reality.
We must also say thank you to the residents of Groton who voiced their support for our efforts at the January 2013 Special Town Meeting. The work isn't over yet but we made a giant stride in the past year. We hope that more residents of Groton get a chance to use this wonderful resource that they have in their backyard.
To that point I hope all the residents of Groton support the efforts by the newly formed Sargisson Beach Committee's plan to restore, preserve and maintain Sargisson Beach so that all citizens of Groton can use Lost Lake and Knops pond for picnicking, swimming and kayaking.
Art Prest, President
Groton Lakes Association
