My Admonition to All Voters In Groton
Dear Editor
I will cast my vote for Don Berwick as the Democratic Candidate for Governor in the Primary Election on September 9. We are fortunate to be able to choose from three well-qualified aspirants: Attorney General Martha Coakley, State Treasurer Stephen Grossman, and Don Berwick.
All three have excellent qualifications, and I will support whoever is elected as our Democratic Candidate. Here is why my choice is Don Berwick:
Healthcare Insurance involves every person in Massachusetts, and its growing costs threaten to overwhelm us. Don Berwick has a plan to avoid that: Single Payer Health Insurance. Don Berwick practiced for years as a pediatrician and wrestled with the complexity and cost of dealing with multiple health insurers. Don Berwick has the experience and determination of leading Massachusetts toward a simpler, more economical, solution.
Casino gambling has popped up as a panacea for creating jobs and generating revenue to be channeled into socially useful purposes. It's a mirage. Don Berwick is against the idiocy of creating new temples for consistently feeling good about losing money that most gamblers can't afford and that flows into the pockets of the casino companies.
World-Class education, aide from good health, is what every youngster in Massachusetts deserves. Don Berwick is squarely behind that idea so that the Pledge of Allegiance's last words "liberty and justice for all," will truly mean ALL.
My admonition to all voters in Groton, Democrats and Republicans: Vote in the Primary; Vote in the General Elections, it's the way a democracy functions.
Cordially,
Emil B. Rechsteiner
