LETTERS: Let's Chat About The Great Benefits of Girl Scouting

There is a long and strong tradition of Girl Scouting in Groton & Dunstable and I am pleased to say it is continues to thrive here. This year we have 20 active Girl Scout troops, from Kindergarten through Middle and High School. Our girls learn how to work in teams, discover and unleash talents they never knew they had, and gain a solid grounding to build their future lives around. In fact, many become lifetime Girl Scouts and continue to contribute as they go through school and career life.

In the past year alone these troops have been active in the community, such as helping the Groton Senior Center or Loaves & Fishes. They are also venturing out to white water rafting trips in Western Mass as well as many troop and State-wide campouts.

We are beginning to gear up for the new Girl Scouting year so if you know a girl who would like to start her journey into girl scouting this fall, contact me atpristol@gmail.com or call (978) 448-3640. Flyers will also be distributed through the elementary and middle schools in early September.

Likewise, the girl scouting experience is only made available because of our wonderful volunteers. We always need adults to give a little time to help run existing and new troops we hope to form. No experience is necessary, no special skills required, just a willingness to hang out, bond with and have fun with the girls.
