A Good Man: Gene Refallah For State Rep.
Dear Editor:
The article in your 18 March issue re Selectman Peter Cunningham: family man, sportsman, philanthropist, civil servant and town leader was excellent.
His skill as an astute politician as borne out by his nine reelections for Groton Selectman and his recent citation by the town Democratic Committee for 25 years of service.
It is unfortunate that Mr. Cunningham declined to appear at the April 5 announcement on Townsend Common by Eugene Refallah of his candidacy for Representative of the First District in the Great and General Court of Massachusetts for Gene Refallah, a barrister, is cut from the same stripe letting his accomplishments as an environmentalist, hiker, jogger and musician speak for themselves. He too is a Democrat.
Our district has not been represented by a Democrat in 35 years. The current House is divided between 22 Republicans (one from our district) and 122 Democrats. As it stands our issues have little chance of getting attention. Let's hope that in the next few months there will be a cordial meeting between these two remarkable men.
