Filling the Food Gap

Dear Editor,

On Friday, March 1, we welcomed a few hundred smiling faces to Richardson-Mees Performing Arts Center at Lawrence Academy for our fifth annual FOODraiser for Loaves & Fishes, featuring top Boston street performers The Jim Show, Alakazam The Human Knot, and surprise guest Daniel Forlano.  Admission t was free with a bag of food for the pantry.

Thanks to the many who showed up to have fun and help our neighbors in need,  together we raised nearly $2000 worth of food - the equivalent of over 900 meals - to help fill in the gap during a critical time of year. We want to thank you all wholeheartedly, for opening your hearts and helping to support this annual event!  We especially thank our sponsors: Lawrence Academy; Squg, LLC; Groton Veterinary Hospital; Groton Board of Trade; Jane Allen, Realtor; Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce; Cheryl Steinhoff Photography; Solas Therapeutic Massage; Body Mind Spirit Eco-chic Day Spa; The Groton Line; Linda Blaschke, DMD; Groton Therapeutic Massage; Ayer Rotary Club; Donelan's Supermarket and Bailey's Bar and Grille, who helped make it happen!

This show of kindness from our friends and neighbors is no surprise to us - we regularly witness such acts in our town (our event was one of three in Groton this month that we know of). We are proud to live and serve in this community, and encourage to continue donating to the pantry, through one of many local food drives or on an individual basis.

As Mother Theresa said, "If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one."  One-by-one, let's keep those shelves stocked!  Every donation makes a difference.
