Kathy Stenson

Kathy Stenson was born on 23 December 1959 at Symmes Hospital in Arlington, and passed away on 31 January 2025. She was a long-time resident of Groton. Most of all, she was a mother to her son Greg, whom she loved dearly.
Kathy worked herself through college, attending night school while often working two jobs. After 14 years of night school, she graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Arts in Management Information Systems. She never stopped learning through many certifications in Information Technology and Biopharma. She was truly a female pioneer in the industry. At the time of her death, she was a senior Director of Global Infrastructure and Operations. She was never more excited to learn than in the present, implementing AI into her current company’s communication structure.
Kathy’s family was very important to her, and she was very involved with her extended family. She united the family, planning many gatherings and events. She once took Greg, her parents, siblings, nieces, and nephew to Disneyworld. Her holiday gatherings were legendary!
When Kathy had a son, she moved from camping at the Hyatt to becoming an expert outdoor camper. She and her son once spent a record of almost 300 nights sleeping in their outdoor tent she had installed. Kathy was very active in the Boy Scouts, and when the local scouts needed a leader, she stepped in and led for years until her death. She and her son made multiple trips to Philmont Scout Ranch; she loved it.
Kathy had many interests over the years and became proficient at many. She was very good at carpentry and household repair. She enjoyed gardening, archery, darts, and, particularly, baking was her passion.
Kathy will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son Greg and his father Brad. She is also survived by siblings Erik Stenson and Annette Stenson; nieces Kire, Hana, Lace, and Olivia; nephew James; and great-niece Camila.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Kathy’s life on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the Badger Funeral Home, 45 School Street, Groton. Immediately following the service, the familay invites you to continue celebrating Kathy's life at the Groton Inn. There will be food and refreshments.
