PIANIST Anton Nel at Kalliroscope Gallery
Indian Hill Music's chamber music series at Groton's Kalliroscope Gallery will present acclaimed pianist Anton Nel in a solo recital Saturday, April 11, 8 p.m. Program will feature works by Debussy (Selections from Preludes, Book 2), Mozart (Nine Variations on a Minuet by J.P. Duport), Schubert (Sonata in B-Flat major, D. 960), and Granados (Allegro de Concierto, Op. 45).
Following an auspicious debut at age 12 with Beethoven's C Major Concerto after only two years of study, the Johannesburg native captured first prizes in all major South African competitions while still in his teens. In 2001 he was appointed Visiting "Extraordinary" Professor at University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, and continues to teach master classes worldwide. His latest release features premiere recordings of all works for piano and orchestra of Edward Burlingame Hill with the Austin Symphony conducted by Peter Bay.
