NOTICE
GROTON WATER DEPARTMENT
SEASONAL WATER MAIN FLUSHING
The Groton Water Department will begin a modified annual Spring flushing Program of the water distribution system on Monday, May 24 thru Wednesday, June 2, 2021.
This year’s flushing program will be limited to the larger water main lines due recent work at the wells that has limited pumping capacity and limited staffing. In the Fall, the full water system will be flushed including all side streets.
If you experience dirty water, please call the water department offices during normal working hours for assistance or simply run your “cold” water taps for 5 to 10 minutes to clear your service line of dirty water.
All water main flushing occurs during the daytime only. We anticipate the flushing program will take approximately two weeks to complete. You will experience discolored water during the flushing effort and we apologize for this inconvenience.
In the event that you experience a prolonged period of discolored water, run numerous cold water taps for 5 to 10 minutes or until it clears up.
This is the time to thoroughly flush your hot water tank.
The water distribution system flushing program is subject to change without notice and the dates listed below are approximate only!
Please be sure to call our offices between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. for the most up to date location of the Flushing Program or check our web site at www.grotonwater.org
     Area 1–May 24, 25 & 26:
Martins Pond Road, Schoolhouse Road, Hemlock Park Drive, Orchard Lane, Chestnut Hill Road, Hollis Street, Champney Street, Middle School Complex, Main Street, Lowell Road and Lost Lake Drive.
     Area 2 – June 2:
Cow Pond Road, Painted Post, Amanda’s Way, and other miscellaneous dead-ends and side streets as may be needed.
If you have any questions regarding the flushing program, specific daily locations or if you are experiencing prolonged periods of dirty and/or discolored water, please contact the Water Department Office during our business hours, Monday 8-7 Wednesday-Thursday 8-4 and Friday 8-1 at 448-1122.
