Tax Classification Hearing

   The Select Board has scheduled a public hearing with the Board of Assessors, within a regular Select Board meeting, on Monday, November 21, 2022, at 7:15 p.m. at the Groton Town Hall, 173 Main Street, 2nd Floor Meeting Room. The purpose of this hearing is to receive comments on the issue of adopting a tax levy percentage for Fiscal Year 2023.  All interested parties are encouraged to attend.

   The Town of Groton Park Commission will hold a public hearing on November 15, 2022 at 6PM at the Groton Town Hall, First Floor Meeting Room, 173 Main Street, Groton, MA. The purpose of the Hearing will be to Discuss the removal of trees at Carol Wheeler Park.

   Under the authority granted under Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 111, Section 31, the Groton Board of Health will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 7:15 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room at the Groton Town Hall to consider the application for the following variance(s) from the Local Well Regulations submitted by Wragg Brothers Well Drilling on behalf of Jean Nordin:

1) Chapter 330, Section 330-4(c) Well Construction Permit

   The applicant is requesting a variance to the existing regulation prohibiting the drilling of a private water well on property If the property already has a town water hook up

   The property is located at 179 Indian Hill Road.

   Copies of the proposed variance request are on file in the Board of Health’s office in Town Hall.

Public Hearing Notice

   Under the authority granted under Massachusetts General Law, Chapter 111, Section 31, the Groton Board of Health will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 7:45 PM in the 1st Floor Meeting Room at the Groton Town Hall to consider the application for the following variance(s) from the Local Well Regulations submitted by Skillings & Sons on behalf of Doug Ricci:

1) Chapter 330, Section 330-4(c) Well Construction Permit

   The applicant is requesting a variance to the existing regulation in which any dwelling on property with a lot line that is within 500 feet of a water main must be connected to a municipal water supply system

   The property is located at 5 Winding Way.

   Copies of the proposed variance request are on file in the Board of Health’s office in Town Hall.

NOTICE

GROTON WATER DEPARTMENT

SEASONAL WATER MAIN FLUSHING

   The Groton Water Department will begin the Fall flushing of the water distribution system on Tuesday, October 18 and it will run thru Thursday, October 27, 2022. All water main flushing occurs during the daytime hours typically between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. We anticipate the flushing program will take approximately two weeks to complete. You will experience discolored water from time to time and low pressure during the flushing effort and we apologize for this inconvenience. 

   In the event that you experience a prolonged period of discolored waters, we recommend that you stop using water for ten to fifteen minutes, then run all of your cold water taps for five to 10 minutes or until it clears up. Do not use hot water as this may pull dirty water into your hot water tank.

   This is the time to thoroughly flush your hot water tank.  Once you have flushed the cold water.

   The water distribution system flushing program is subject to change without notice and the dates listed below are approximate only!

   Please be sure to call our offices between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the most up to date location of the Flushing Program or check our web site at www.grotonwater.org

   Area 1 – October 18: Orchard Lane, Chestnut Hill Road, Schoolhouse Road, Hemlock Park Drive to the Baddacook Well.

   Area 2 & 3 – October 19 and 20:  Martins Pond Road, Hollis Street, Champney Street, Middle School Complex and Main Street. Lowell Road, Station Ave, Court St. and Lost Lake Drive (to Whitney Well).

   Area 5 – October 24:  Old Ayer Road, Boston Road, Lovers Lane, Elm Street, Pleasant Street, Lawrence Academy Campus. Farmers ROW to Higley Street.

   Area 6 – October 25: Hillside Ave, Whiting Ave, West Street, Mill Street, Partridge Berry Woods Subdivision, Nod Road Gratuity Road and North Main Street.

   Area 7 – October 26 and 27: Duck Pond Drive, Hidden Valley, New Pond to the Four Corners, Painted Post and Cow Pond Brook Road. 

   If you have any questions regarding the flushing program, specific daily locations or if you are experiencing prolonged periods of dirty and/or discolored water, please contact the Water Department Office during our business hours at 1-978-448-1122.

   In accordance with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, M.G.L Ch. 131, Sec. 40 and the Groton Wetlands Protection Bylaw, the Groton Conservation Commission will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 6:45 p.m. to consider an Abbreviated Notice of Resource Area Delineation (ANRAD) filed by Groton School.  The subject property is located at 282 Farmers Row (Groton Assessor’s Parcel 219-09). The Groton 2022-2023 Community Preservation Plan (CPP) has been released and is available on the Groton CPC website as a PDF (https://portal.grotonma.gov/storage/Community_Preservation_Committee/Com...).

Please note that the PDFs of the Project Summary Form and the complete Application Form are located under the ‘CPC Applications’ folder at the bottom of the CPC website https://www.grotonma.gov/government/boards-and-committees/community-pres.... For your convenience both forms are also attached within this email. If completing these electronically please be sure to save down the PDF’s first before filling it out.

The Two Paged Required CPA Project Summary Form is due by Thursday, October 27, 2022.
