We share Groton with a huge variety of creatures in the natural environment. One of the denizens of our town - this American Carrion Beetle - is a resident of Surrenden Fields Farm. Notice the ‘hitchiker’ on the beetle’s back. This mite, of the genus Poecilochirus, likes getting an Uber to the next shared food source. Photo by Tom Murray on September 12, 2021.
