Country Club Projected Revenues Tank; Tax-Payer Subsidy Contemplated

Town Manager Mark Haddad provided the Select Board and Finance Committee with a brief report on the results of the Town’s Q3 finances. He advised that for the first three quarters of FY 2020, the town was well on its way to meet the budget. Now he is looking at a $300,000 reduction in anticipated room and meals taxes.

To the exclusion of just about everything else, the COVID-19 pandemic was front and center on Beacon Hill for the fourth week in a row. Most legislators and staff are staying away from Beacon Hill and are working from home to comply with social distancing guidelines.

Bill To Punish Emergency Hoarding

A bill labeled ‘Stop Hoarding During Emergency' (HD 5013) woild prohibit retail food stores from accepting the bulk return of any groceries and other household goods purchased by a consumer during, and for 30 days following, a declared state of emergency resulting from a pandemic or other public health emergency.

I want to thank Town Manager Mark Haddad for his decision this past week to accept the lowest bid for the Prescott School sprinkler system. It must not have been an easy decision, but by his actions, the CPA article for this project will now move forward to Spring Town Meeting. There we all will have an opportunity to vote on this warrant article.
