Alyssa Marie Finnivan

Alyssa Marie Finnivan, 25, of Groton, MA passed away unexpectedly at her home where she lived with and was loved by her parents Beverly and Joseph Finnivan, on June 15, 2022.

Alyssa was a kind, caring, intelligent, beautiful, and creative woman who had a passion for music. From a young age she loved all things related to music. She attended Indian Hill Music Center and became proficient with the piano, guitar, cello, and violin. She wrote her own music, and had an exceptionally lovely singing voice. Alyssa participated in horseback riding when she was young, winning trophies and having fun. She earned her 2nd degree junior black belt at Luth’s Karate in Groton, and worked as their receptionist. When Alyssa finished high school, she was awarded a full 4-year scholarship to UMass Boston. After a few semesters, she decided she wanted to concentrate more on a career related to music, and enrolled at the Galloup School of Lutherie in Michigan to learn the art of making guitars. After she finished the courses, she was chosen to be the top apprentice at the school, and assisted in the making of high end guitars. After her apprenticeship, Alyssa came back home and started making a guitar shop of her own. She was in the process of making some original and beautifully designed guitars when she passed. Alyssa had many passions in life, including cats, the mountains of Vermont, sushi, music of any kind, working with colors, drawing, writing stories, and watching indie films.

Alyssa is survived by her parents Beverly (Sullivan) Finnivan of Poughkeepsie, NY, Joseph (Finneran) Finnivan of Chelsea,  sibling Avery Finnivan of North Adams, maternal grandmother Ann Sullivan of Sarasota, FL, paternal grandmother June (Pedi) Finneran of Melbourne, FL, aunt Kathy (Finneran) Lafayette of Madison, AL, and aunt Jill (Finneran) Swain of Melbourne, FL.
