A Message from GD varsity football Coach Tom Sousa

It is encouraging to see sports starting back however, the modifications are significant. I have been in frequent communication with Athletic Director Matt Ricard about what we will be allowed to do this fall. We hope to begin working with the kids around by the end of October.
Regarding the timing of the season, I am just glad we are talking about a season. Besides, there is never bad weather during football season! It doesn’t matter if it is the traditional season or the Fall 2 season.
I really want to get a chance to have the team play football this season. We are excited about some of our underclassmen and really want to get some film for our seniors who are interested in playing at the next level. We have not seen exact modifications for football but I understand the specific sports committees are still doing their work.
We can’t control the weather in February or the modifications, but we can control how we respond to the challenges this year presents. It is all about remaining positive, continuing to work to get better and making the most of whenever we are allowed to get together as a team.
