Green Meadow Golf Course Under Agreement

By Robert Mingolelli
Everyone who plays golf in this area is familiar with Green Meadow Golf Club in Hudson NH. Founders and owners Phil and Jeanne Friel built the original 9 hole course in 1959, eventually adding nine more holes and later a second 18 hole course as interest in golf grew. The two courses: the Jungle, as you might imagine is a tight, interesting layout while the Prairie is more open and a bit more forgiving.
This golf haven may very well change as Representatives from Hillwood Investment Properties are scheduled to meet with Hudson NH officials May 27 during a public hearing at the Hudson Community Center. According to Hillwood’s proposal, 230 of the acres at the Hudson Logistics Center would be preserved as green space, including a buffer zone along the Merrimack River.
The Dallas-based company has plans to transform the 380-acre parcel into three high-tech distribution facilities totaling 2.6 million square feet. According to Hillwood, 2,500 direct and indirect jobs would be created if the Hudson Logistics Center gets approval.
Green Meadow will be open for the rest of 2020. New Hampshire opened golf courses Monday after a delayed start to the season due to the coronavirus outbreak. Friel said it’s possible, but not likely, the course will open for a short time in 2021, but only if the sale is delayed. (Edited from Lowell Sun)
