Cam Roberts (2-4, RBI) snagged a line drive with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win for the No. 6 Chieftains (12-5, 8-0 Mid-Wach B). Ethan Hillenberg hit a RBI double in the seventh for the host Crusaders (6-9, 4-4).

Kana Norton, (2 for 3 ) singled in the bottom of the seventh inning for the Chieftains. GD’s Cassidy Heulings started the inning with a single (2-3, 2 runs) followed by a walk to Jen Thorburn (2-2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) went the distance on the mound (11 ks, 9 hits, 3 BB). Lauren Thorburn (2-4, run), Emma Wilson outstanding game defensively.

Cassidy Heulings (1b, 2 runs), Jen Thorburn (HR, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) went the distance, spacing 11 hits, 10 Ks and 3 walks. Whitney Ellis went 2-3 with 2 RBIs.

Liam McDonough had five goals, and Andrew Berube and Max Buehler both had hat tricks to power the second-ranked Crusaders (12-3) past the Rangers (3-13). G-D’s Blake Lacombe scored twice.

Four GD Track and Field athletes qualified for the All-State Meet next Saturday at Fitchburg State.
Riley Patten: 1st place 400M Hurdles and 4th place in the pole vault
Sydney Adams: 2nd place in the 2 Mile
Erin Scanlon: 4th place in the 400M
Sam Furman: 2nd place in the shot put.
Central/West Division 1 track & field meet at Hampshire Regional High School.
The Groton-Dunstable girls-11th with 22.5 points. The Crusader boys-12th with 30 points.
GD senior Riley Patten finished first in the 400 hurdles (meet record 55.45). Patten broke his own meet record which he established last year at 55.58, also placed fourth in the pole vault at 12-6, and sixth in the 400 in 50.50.
The 4x400 relay team of Jacob Scharn, Zach-ariah Elmasri, Alex Sellers and Thomas Orcutt placed sixth in 3:34.67. Eli Kritzer was eighth in the 2-mile in 10:20.32. Kira McKinley was sixth in the pentathlon (2,383 points) and the 400 hurdles (1:09.97). Sarah Maple placed sixth in the mile at 5:25.47. Liz Zawada was eighth in the javelin with a throw of 100’-4”.
