On February 8, Endicott Women’s Basketball team hosted the GDYBL 6th grade girls Travel Team at their game against Roger Williams University. It was a fantastic afternoon of basketball for the younger girls, who met with Endicott Coach Brittany Hutchinson prior to the start of the game, were invited to join the tunnel on the court as the starting lineups were announced and enjoyed a close-up view of college basketball from right behind the Endicott bench.
After the game, the Endicott players held a meet and greet with the 6th graders, introducing themselves, finding out a little bit about the younger girls and signing team posters for them.
Although it was hard for the 6th graders to fathom, Coach Hutchinson once walked in their basketball sneakers and represented the Groton-Dunstable Crusaders on the GDYBL Travel and Rec Teams, Middle School Basketball team and GDRHS basketball team. She graduated in 2003.
It was a very special opportunity and perfect timing as Feb 7, 2020 was Massachusetts celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
The 6th grade girls travel basketball team has one loss on their season. The team is coached by Peter Rider and Kelly Houle.
