Crusaders Top Oakmont in Consolation Game

North Middlesex Regional toppled Ayer-Shirley High, 50-22, in the finals of the Pete Trainor Memorial Tournament. The third annual Trainor tourney honors a former long-time Central Mass. high school official who ran a similar tournament for several years before he passed away.

The All-Tournament team included Gabby Hebert, Sam Lynch, Maddie Balassie of NMRS, Rachel McCarron of Groton-Dunstable and Ray Quaye of Oakmont. Tournament MVP was Mackensey Farina of NMRHS.

Groton-Dunstable topped Oakmont 49-27 in the consolation game as McCarron had 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Lindsey Werner added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals for the 1-3 Crusaders. Senior forward Leanne Mueller had 4 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals. Senior guard Riley Rogers scored 7 points and played well defensively in the Crusaders' first win of the season.
