Your Response To Town Census Keeps Your Voter Status Active

The 2020 Annual Town Census has been mailed.
The Town Census is mailed annually, as required by Massachusetts General Law. It’s purpose is to verify the inhabitants and voters of the town. It is used to produce the 2020 Street List and to maintain the currency of the voter rolls. Your response to the census keeps your voter status as “active”, which simplifies your voting experience at the year’s elections. At times, individuals require a “proof of town residency” for various applications; the census is also used for that purpose.
Included with your census mailing is a reminder about dog registrations and a questionnaire supplied by the Cable Advisory Committee. Avoid a late fee- please register your dog on line, in person or by mail before March 1.
Later this spring, you will be receiving the 2020 Federal Census. The federal census occurs every 10 years, and is unrelated to the annual town census. Your response to one is not a response to both.
You should have received your census mailing. If you have not, or if you have questions, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 978-448-1100 or Townclerk@
