OPENING ON CONSERVATION COMMISSION
The Groton Conservation Commission is a town board consisting of seven volunteers who are appointed by the Board of Selectmen. It is the official agency charged with the protection of Groton's natural resources. The Commission also advises other municipal departments and boards on conservation issues. In addition, the Commission is responsible for managing over 2,000 acres of town-owned conservation land. Effective immediately, there is an opening on the Commission.
Any resident interested in serving on the Commission is encouraged to contact the Conservation Commission at 978-448-1106 or ttada@townofgroton.org. Interested candidates should also fill out a "Committee Interest Form" which is available in the Board of Selectmen or Conservation Commission offices in Town Hall. Please submit applications to the Conservation Administrator by Friday, February 12, 2016. The Conservation Commission will interview all interested candidates at their meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016.
OPENINGS ON NASHOBA VALLEY TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL COMMITTEE
The Town of Groton currently has immediate openings on the Nashoba Valley Technical High School District School Committee for a representative and an alternate to the Committee. Any Groton resident interested in serving on the District School Committee is encouraged to contact the Office of the Board of Selectmen at 978-448-1111 or selectmen@townofgroton.org. Interested candidates should also fill out a "Committee Interest Form" which is available at the Board of Selectmen's office in Town Hall or can be found online at www.townofgroton.org.
Please submit applications to by Friday, January 22, 2016. The Board of Selectmen, Town Moderator and Groton Representatives of the Groton Dunstable Regional School Committee will interview all interested candidates at a joint meeting on Monday, January 25, 2016.
BLACK TO FILL SWEZEY'S ASSESSOR SEAT
In a majority vote by the combined Board of Assessors and the Board of Selectmen, local realtor Don Black was selected to fill the vacancy on the Board of Assessors due to the resignation of Rena Swezey. Swezey, both an elected Assessor and an appointed Assessor moved out of town. She will, however, continue in her position as appointed Assessor. Black's appointment is valid until the Town Election, when he will be on the ballot for the full three-year term.
NEWMAN APPOINTED TO WILD AND SCENIC STUDY
Selectmen voted to appoint Tim Newman of Reedy Meadow Road as Alternative Representative to the Nashua River Wild & Scenic Study Committee.
