The Slim Edition: RFP for Town Legal Rep; Road Kill Removal Fee; Weed Control Extended
RFP FOR TOWN LEGAL REP
With more than 7 years of using Kopelman & Paige as Town Counsel, Selectmen have issued a RFP for other firms to bid on handling the town's legal needs.
PAY FOR DEER REMOVAL
This past year, from October 2014 to now, there were 25 to 27 deer killed on Groton roadways. Up to now, the town has had a volunteer to remove the deer carcasses from the roads at no cost to the town. The Board voted a remuneration of $600 for this position, which essentially covers cost of gas and the individual's time - which sometimes means being called out at 2 a.m.
SONAR FOR LOST LAKE, KNOPS POND
Selectmen voted to support a 3-year extension the Order of Conditions from the Conservation Commission for the Lost Lake and Knops Pond Weed Management Program. The Board cited the success of the application of the herbicide Sonar to the two bodies of water to kill invasive aquatic weeds and gave their support to keep the lakes as weed-free as possible.
